George Sikeliotis (Smyrna, February 4, 1917 - Athens, September 4, 1984) is one of the most important Greek painters and engravers of the so-called "generation of the '30s". He was born on February 4, 1917 in Izmir, Asia Minor.

In 1922, with the Asia Minor catastrophe, he came to Athens and

settles with his family in Kaisariani. He studied at

Higher School of Fine Arts of the National Technical University of Athens,

from 1935 to 1940, where he had teachers Konstantinos Parthenis

and Spyridon Vikatos. From his student years, he begins to present his works in group exhibitions. Specifically, in 1936 he participated in the 1st Annual Athens School of Fine Arts Student Exhibition, in the halls of Parnassos and in 1938 in the group exhibition of Young Realists in Athens. Works from this period are now in the National Gallery.

In 1949 he became a member of the artistic group "Stathmi", which

developed a rich artistic activity. Until his first

solo exhibition (1954), participated in several group exhibitions at

Greece (Panhellenic women of the artistic group "Stathmi", as a member

in Athens, Thessaloniki, etc.), as well as abroad (Rome

1953, Ottawa - Canada 1953). In 1954 he organized in Athens

his first solo exhibition, with 80 works, in the halls of the newspaper

Vima while in 1957 he participated in the Alexandria Biennale.

During his fifty years (1935-1984) artistic career presented his work in a large number of individual and group exhibitions in Greece and abroad. In GREECE presented his work in 20 solo exhibitions and in more than 185 group exhibitions.
