Giannis Spyropoulos (1912–1990) was one of the most prominent Greek painters of the 20th century, primarily known for his contributions to abstract art. Born in Pylos, he studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and continued his education in Paris on a scholarship from the Academy of Athens. His work blends tectonic composition with spontaneous, expressive brushstrokes. He was the first Greek artist to participate in “documenta III” in Kassel in 1964, and in 1960, he won the UNESCO Prize at the Venice Biennale. His works have been exhibited internationally in galleries such as World House Galleries in New York and the Smithsonian in Washington. In 1990, he founded the Spyropoulos Foundation in Ekali
