Sarantis Karavouzis (b. 1938) is best known for his painting, but he turned to printmaking in 1969, following the mixed model of "painter-printmakers" who sought to communicate more widely with the public through their prints (see A. Bartsch, Le peintre-graveur, 21 vols., Vienna 1803-1829. For Karavouzis as a painter-printmaker, see D. Pavlopoulos, "Painter-Printmakers: Several have engaged in printmaking as an extension or complement to their other work," Kathimerini ["Seven Days"], March 12, 1995).

He has created woodcuts, linocuts, etchings, zincographs, serigraphs, and monotypes. His prints have been featured in solo exhibitions (1996, Athens, "House of Cyprus"; 1997, Piraeus, French Institute of Athens) and group exhibitions (1981, European Printmaking Biennale, Baden-Baden; 1988, Greek Postwar Printmaking, National Gallery and Alexandros Soutzos Museum; 1988, First Triennale Mondiale des Estampes, Chamaliers, Museum of Contemporary Art; 1990, Second Mediterranean Printmaking Biennale, Athens Municipal Gallery; 1992, Touring Exhibition of Contemporary Greek Printmaking, Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece; 2000, "Lights and Shadows: Panorama of Greek Printmaking" from the collections of the National Gallery, Pierides Foundation, Cypriot artists and collectors, Nicosia Municipal Arts Center [Collaboration: Pierides Gallery] - National Gallery and Alexandros Soutzos Museum).
